Colin Powell agrees with Obama on Gitmo

There are 91 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. President Obama's plan is to transfer 35 of them to other countries. The remaining 57 detainees are to be relocated to a U.S. facility. The detainees being tranferred to the US are either awaiting trial, or have been determined too dangerous for release but are not facing charges.

Obama wants to close Gitmo before his presidency ends. So naturally, Republicans have their panties all in a bunch over it. While most are taking steps to prevent President Obama from closing the facility, Colin Powell is agreeing with the President.

According to Powell, federal courts in the U.S. have been effective at prosecuting suspected terrorists.
"You put a terrorist before a jury of Americans who are worried about their security, and I'm not worried about them getting off on some plea deal," he said.

Republicans always talk about cutting government spending. Keeping Guantanomo Bay open will cost our country approximately $228 million. That's about $4 million annually for each of the 57 inmates. So, why would they oppose the shut down?

Dear Republicans:
Could you stop acting like everything Obama does is wrong?
A broken clock is right twice a day.
