Just a Thought About the Debate

About the debate on 9/26/08: I don't think McCain explained in enough detail, why our country should strive to win this war. I have a hard time understanding why it is a bad idea to begin to pull out of a battle that is costing us so much. I hear him saying, "We have to win this war. We have to win," and it peeves me. How can he be so concerned with winning a war in another country, when we're losing a battle right here at home. This war is costing our country too much and it seems like McCain just doesn't get it.

Happiness

Happiness. How do you find it? How do you define it? Does it really exist? Do you find it within yourself? If you are at peace with yourself, does that make you happy? Are you happy with your career, relationship, marital status or home? How does the way you feel about those things effect whether or not you are generally a happy person? I found out recently that there is actually a science to happiness. It ties into the study of human behavior. I found it pretty interesting. Especially since right now I'm trying to figure out some things in my life and I've been feeling a little down. I also searched Happiness on Google and found out that I'm not the only person out there asking these type of questions. Apparently a lot of people want to know why they are not Happy and how they can find happiness.

Before You Do

T.D. Jakes was here Yesterday for a book signing at the Borders on South Broad Street. I missed it and I already plan on buying this book. It would have been nice to have it signed by him. I want this book because I am hesitant about marriage. Well,I guess to be honest I should say I'm absolutely frightened about the idea of marriage. No one in my family has had a successful, lasting marriage. If I get married I want it to be a one time deal, but I'm afraid of failure. I'm interested in this book and I hope I find some answers or ideas about taking that step into marriage.

Long Day in Autumn

Without a doubt or hesitation, Autumn is my favorite season. The best time of year, but also the busiest time of the year for me. I've been blogging everyday, but yesterday, I was soooooooo tired. I had such a long day. It went something like this: Dropped my son off to school. Proceeded to take my two little girls to their Dentist appointment. Got off the bus 10 blocks too far Caught the bus back the other way. 9:45am, we still made it in time (Whew!) 1:00pm, made it home. Gave the girls lunch, set them up with a movie, turned on my computer and started work. 5:30pm time for a quick dinner. 6:00pm, made it to Back to School Night. 8:00pm, made it home with just enough time to get the kids ready for bed. 9:00pm-whenever I feel asleep, I was trying to clean up and chill. I didn't get the chill time I was looking. I didn't get a chance to blog all day yesterday and I missed all my shows on CNN. But I did gather the following info. Washington Mutual made history by becoming

Shopping This Weekend

I'm no fashion Guru, but I do like to shop.Sometimes my Mommy Pockets prevent me from shopping for myself, but I am hoping I will be able to grab a few things this weekend. This top is from Old Navy and I love the color. I love hoops and the "Banged Metal" in these earrings give a new look to my old favorite. I want this top and I will get it.

Look Who Came Out of the Closet!

Whoa! Big shocker. I'm so surprised! I thought the entire world already knew about Clay Aiken being Gay. Who didn't already know this and why is it on the cover of People Magazine as if it is real news.

Campbell Brown: CNN Election Center

Tonight on the Election center, Campbell Brown approached the McCain Campaign on the issue of Sarah Palin. She pointed out that the media should be able to question the Governor just as they question any politician running for office. Just as they have done Barack, Biden and McCain himself. She explained that treating Palin different from the men who are running is sexist, and asked that they put an end to this sexism. I Love CNN...

Britney Should have Hired Jill

See what a beautiful job Jill Greenberg did with Gwen Stefani. Britney should have hired Jill.

Brushed Britney

Everybody is talking about Britney's new Airbrushed photos. The promotional pics for her new single have received a lot of scrutiny. People are saying the photos look nothing like her. What do you think? I personally don't think anything is wrong with Airbrushed photos. Maybe she just hired the wrong artist. A better artist could have Airbrushed her photos and kept the image recognizable.

Three Low Cost Handbags I Must Have This Fall

Condoleezza Rice - Where have you been?

Condoleezza Rice, the first black woman to serve as Secretary of State has been busy talking tough to Russia. I've read that her speech on the 18th was stern and powerful. I'm not surprised. Condoleezza has always seemed like a strong woman to me. I mean, you have to be strong and well rounded to deal with the pressures of working so close to a moron like Bush. Man, she has a hard job. She is much more experienced to be VP than Sarah Palin. But there is that issue of her being black. Conservatives might not have gone for that. It also would have strengthened the "more of the same" theme. The Transcript Artical from America.gov

Bangs

I'm thinking about getting bangs this fall. Hoping to achieve a Rosario Dawson type look. Do you thing I can pull it off?

What's in a Name?

Alluzee - Joyful Amara - Eternal flower, imperishable Alina - Noble, fair, beautiful Ali - Excellent, noble, greatest The names above belong to my children. These are their middle names which where chosen because of their meaning. Last night, for no particular reason, I was doing some name searching online. I decided to look up my children's first names. Each of them were named after someone in our family, so I never really thought about what those first names meant. Last night I found out that their first names have pretty cool meanings too. Tabitha - Gazelle (Gazelles are graceful creatures) Shalonda - Peace Glorious - Glorious (that one was easy) Fareed - Rare After that I searched for my first and middle names (I've never really liked them). This is what I got: Juanita - God is gracious Michelle - Who is like God I was like, "Wow, I'm cool even when I don't know about it." I had no idea my names had such great meaning. I feel a little special now. Do you k

Government Takes Action to Ease Financial Crisis

Bush's epiphany on Government intervention seems right on the money (a little late, but still a good move). I can't understand why McCain's camp and other Rebuplicans feel so strongly about less government. We've had less Government for the past 8 years and look at the mess it got us into. http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20080919/Bush.Markets/

Overturning Roe v. Wade

(I previously posted this on my Myspace blog) People, I can't express enough how important this is to me. I do not like abortion. But I do not feel that it is my place or the governments place to tell a woman that she cannot get an abortion. One of John McCain's goals as president is to overturn Roe v. Wade. I Got this directly off of his website: "Overturning Roe v. Wade John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat. (Note: returning it to the state level doesn't mean it will still be legal. The state will decide on that. Jill Greenberg - Professional Photographer

Jill Greenberg, a photographer who has worked for prominent magazine's such as TIm e & Vibe, was hired to shoot some photos of John McCain. The proud Democrat did a photo shoot of the Presidential Nominee for The Atlantic Monthly's October issue. During the shoot she also took a few images for herself which she later manipulated. The one to the right is a little scary, but they weren't all that extreme. As it turns out this isn't the first time she's used her art form to express her political views. Greenberg has also done anti-Bush photos. I give her kudos for creative expression. She's very talented, but this was a little unprofessinal. She could have at least touched up the cover image for the magazine. The Atlantic says they will not pay the photographer and plan to take further action because she violated the terms of their agreement. Greenberg has stated that perhaps the Atlantic was irresponsible for hiring her to do the shoot to begin with. Ch
