Philadelphia's Attempt to Rid Streets of Outstanding Warrants

Through Sept. 20th, non-violent fugitives may surrender to local authorities at the True Gospel Tabernacle Church. The church has been turned into a temporary court room where it will hear cases from 8:00am-5:00pm. This is all part of an effort to decrease the amount of wanted fugitives in the city. City officials are calling it the Fugitive Safe Surrender effort and believe that it will help clean up the streets. So far 100 something fugitives have surrendered. It is expected that a couple thousand people will surrender by September 20th.
I don't know if this will work, but at least Mayor Nutter will have his picture in the paper again. Someone should do a story about how he shut down the Youth Advocate Program because Mayor Street started it and his name isn't tied to it.
